Binibeca Menorca: Mediterranean charm in blue and white

What is Binibeca and why visit it?

Binibeca Menorca is one of the most emblematic areas of the south coast of the island, within the municipality of Sant Lluís. Its most famous image is Binibeca Vell, the so-called “white village”, an architectural recreation of an old fishing village, with whitewashed houses, narrow streets and wooden balconies. Strolling through its white labyrinths is like stepping into a living postcard of the Mediterranean.

Binibeca Vell: the white soul of Menorca

Although it may look like an ancient nucleus, Binibeca Vell was built in the 1960s by architect Antoni Sintes Mercadal and Francesc Joan Barba i Corsini. Its design sought to capture the essence of traditional seafaring life and, at the same time, provide a bohemian haven for artists and intellectuals. The result is a photogenic ensemble that has been the subject of thousands of postcards and Instagram photos.
